We’re now leaving the hotel. This road we are on is called Slamet Riyadi. Slamet Riyadi is the name of an Indonesian hero. He is the part of the student soldiers.

The major road that divides the city as it becomes very important when the name of the Dutch Queen Wilhelmina never pinned him. Wilhelmina straat, that's the beginning of the name of this street. Wilhelmina straat in Dutch means rocky road (probably already cast-cast's) Queen Wilhelmina. Not only that, its presence increasingly famous after Wilhelmina straat, changed to the name Poerwosarie Weg. Poerwosarie Weg in Dutch means Jalan Besar Poerwosarie that connects two locations. East-West, West-East. Naturally, because Poerwosarie Station community activities as well as supporting an important means of transportation at that time also in the west end of this street.

The history of the name slamet Riyadi Street is Wilhelmina straat, when the ducth government, and change into Poerwosarie Weg, because there are Purwosari railway on the end of this street, and the last to be slamet riyadi street to appreciate the services of a hero of Slamet Riyadi to fight and restore the Dutch colonial town victory Surakarta, therefore Pakubuwono him a hero and used his name as the name of the biggest street in the city of Surakarta. And in the end of this street we will find the statue of the Slamet Riyadi.

To know about this city, here i would like to tell you about its history.

The name of “Solo” came from the native village of ‘Desa Sala”. It was located at the place where the sunan Palace is now situated.

The other name of Solo is “Surakarta”.

In years 1744, a local rebellion happened in Kartasura, a small city about 10 kilometers in the west of Solo. King Pakubuwono II then gave an order to Tumenggung Wiroguno and Pangeran Wijil. The two emmisaries when to find the suitable place for the new palace. On their meditation to got the Almighty, they heard a voice of inspirtion which said “Hey, you who do penance! “if you want to find a site for the capital of the Kingdom, go to the village of Sala. Because the place is decreed by God the Almighty that Sala will become a great and prosperous city”.

Rejoiced at being sent this blessing, they proceeded to the village of Sala to meet the chief of the village, called “ Kyai Sala” and so they believe that the voice they heard was a divine revelation. On the returning to the palace, the king shared their comviction of the story,

The story goes.. there were a lot of troubles. The village of Sala was located near a lake which ought to be drined to construct the new palace. The king then ordered the regents to bring logs and timbers to fill up the lake. All their effort wasn’t succesfull. The water source was even spouting from the ground and was unable to be stopped. It seemed that a strange power had ancreased and sea fishes were even seen there.

Then King and his subjects fee! In to a state of despair. But God still sent them his blessings. Another revelation came in a voice which said : “ot stop the flow of the water, you have to cover it with “ going sekar Delima”, they head of a lady dancer as well as with rhubarb leaves”.

Then the revelation was interpreted as follows :”Goong” symbolized ”uni” or the voice of the story teller which meant Kyai Sala. A lady dancer was actually the symboli of “ Ringgit” or the dutch coin at that time, which was worth 2,5 guilders. The head meant amount of the money (10,000 ringgit)

So, this amount of money had to be presented to the story teller. Kyai Sala and then he was ordered to stop the water flow.

By using “Sekar Delima”, the flower of pomegrenates and rhubarb leaves, he was succesfull in stoping the water  flow. Later on, the lake was drained and was filled up with the soil of a place called “Talawangi”. Then, the new palace was contrusted. There was a lot of offerings made for Kartasura to Surakarta. This event took place on the 17th of Sura (the first month of the Javanesse calender system) or in the year of 1670 AD. This was recordered in a chronogramme “ Siraning Resi Rasa Tunggal”. The new palace was named “Surakarta Hadiningrat” which is now also the name of the city.

Kraton (palace) Surakarta is one exotic buildings in his day. One of the architects of this palace is Mangkubumi (later the title of Sultan Hamengkubuwono I) which is also the main architect of the Sultan Palace. It is therefore not surprising that the basic spatial pattern of the second palace (Yogyakarta and Surakarta) have many common similarities. Keraton Surakarta as can be seen today are not built simultaneously in 1744-45, but was built in stages to maintain the basic pattern remains the same layout with initially. Development and large-scale restoration carried out by His Majesty Pakubuwono last X (Sunan PB X) who reigned from 1893 to 1939. Most of this palace shades of white and blue with a mixture of Javanese-style arsitekrur Europe.
In general, the division of the palace include: Complex Square Lor / North, Sumewa Sasana Complex, Complex Sitihinggil Lor / North, Kamandungan Complex Lor / North, Sri Manganti Complex, Complex Kedhaton, Kamagangan Complex, Complex Srimanganti the South / South (?) And Kemandungan the South / South, and the South Sitihinggil Complex and the South Square. The palace complex is also surrounded by baluwarti, a defense wall with a height of about three to five meters and a thickness of about one meter without a bridge. This wall encloses an area with a rectangular shape. The area width is approximately five hundred meters long and about seven hundred meters. Palace complex inside walls are of Kemandungan Lor / North to the South Kemandungan / South. Both complexes Sitihinggil and square is not surrounded by defensive walls.

Originally Surakarta palace is a palace Institute (Imperial House) in charge of the king and the royal family in addition to being the center of government Kesunanan Surakarta. After Kesunanan Surakarta deleted by the Indonesian government declared in 1946, the role of Surakarta palace is no more a particular Java Indigenous Stakeholders line / Surakarta style. Similarly, His Majesty no longer play a role in the affairs of state as a political sense but dala king as his lordship Indigenous Stakeholders Throne, the informal leader of the culture.

The function of the palace was turned into a protector and guardian of cultural identity, especially Java, Surakarta style. Although the functionality is limited to the informal sector but Surakarta palace still has its own charisma in the Java community, especially in the former Kesunanan Surakarta. In addition Surakarta palace also give honorary knighthood (honoriscausa) in those who have a particular attention to the Javanese culture Surakarta in addition to those who are entitled by birth or because of their position as an employee (court employees) palace.

It’s nice to welcome you to Surakarta. This is the one of important city in Indonesia.

First of all, i would like to introduce my self. I’m your guide today and i will escort you to transfer in the hotel. My name is Yulia Vakusti Rahma. On the way to the hotel. Let me give you some general information about this city which i hope will you understand more about the country and its people.

Surakarta is arguably the epicenter of Javanese identity and tradition. The name of Surakarta we also often called Solo and less commonly Sala. This 44-km² city can be explored with at least on overnight visit. This city famous for its batiks offers an elegant keraton (Royal Palace), backstreet kampongs, traditional markets and gleaming malls. Solo is an excellent place to witness the traditional performing arts and a great place to buy traditional crafts.

Surakarta is a city in Central Java, Indonesia of more than 520,061 people (2009) with a population density of 11,811.5 people/km². The 44 km² city adjoins Karanganyar Regency and Boyolali Regency to the north, Karanganyar Regency and Sukoharjo Regency to the east and west, and Sukoharjo Regency to the south. On the eastern side of Solo lies Solo River (Bengawan Solo). The city is the seat of Surakarta Sunanate kraton (palace/court). Together with Yogyakarta, Surakarta is the heir of the Mataram Kingdom that was split into two kingdoms in 1755.

Surakarta is the birthplace of the current president of Indonesia, Joko Widodo. He led as mayor of Surakarta from 2005 to 2012.

Surakarta is also widely known by the name "Solo". "Surakarta" is used in formal and official contexts. The city has a similar name to the neighboring district of "Kartasura," where the previous capital of Mataram was located. The Dutch name "Soerakarta" influenced the Indonesian spelling "Soerakarta" in use before the 1948 spelling reform.

Surakarta is a lowland lying on flat terrain 105 m above sea level (in the city center about 95 m above sea level), with an area of 44.1 km² (0.14% of the area of Central Java). It is approximately 65 km (40 mi) northeast of Yogyakarta and 100 km (62 mi) southeast of Semarang. The eastern part of the town is bordered by Bengawan Solo River, the longest river on Java. The river is the inspiration for the song "Bengawan Solo", a 1940s composition by Gesang Martohartono which became famous throughout much of Asia. The city's soil is fertile because of the river and its tributaries.

The city is surrounded by Merbabu and Mount Merapi (3,151 m high) to the west and Mount Lawu (3265 m high) to the east. The Sewu Mountain Range lies further south. Nearby is also the infamous Mount Kemukus (also known as Sex Mountain).

Ladies and gentlemen, now i will inform you about the development of the tourism of Indonesia. As Keppres No XV/83 (Presidential Decision No. XV/83) was issued. The era of Indonesian Tourism is a good prospect. All of the departemental executives of the government are working together  hands in hands to work and to handle the tourism business, especially those who belong to the responsibility of the Ministry of Tourism.

 CAMELION AND LONOMIA

In animatopia land lived animals peacefully led by King Namurulion that very wise. Animatopia was a fertile country, prosperous and rich. They  preserved the natural resources.  Rain forest dense, the flowing river water, savannah and greenery into a very beautiful scenery in the country. people worked in agriculture and fisheries. Fruit, flowers, vegetables and fresh fish from Animatopia was the best quality in the world.
King Namurulion was the third king in Animatopia, he was the king of a very thoughtful and generous, people really respect him. The first king was his grandfather ,'King Banumelion, while the second king was his father ,' King Napolion. King Namurulion have a very beautiful daughter her name is Princess Camelion. One day the king fell ill, the disease was very strange. The witch ‘Lonomia who did it, he wants to kill the king Namurulion with poison and wants to seize the throne. All the royal physician was not able to cure it. King's body swelled and he lay helpless in bed. Queen Madelion and princess Camelion very confused and sad to saw the king Namurulion. News of the king's illness has been heard throughout the country, black clouds covered the Animatopia sky. Hearing this, a palace herbalist ,old tortoise  go out from the mushrooms house and went to the King at the Palace Animatopia. He felt sorry to see the state of the king and told the princess and the queen that he was exposed to toxic witch Lonomia Caterpillar coming out of his body. The poison is very deadly and cause swelling, itching incredible and can cause bleeding in the brain. Because of it the king Namurulion didn’t become sober.
The old tortoise told Princess Camelion that there is a fruit that can save King Namurulion from toxins Lonomia but he had to look it up in the water country, Seatopia. The fruit was named Dulce, the fruit is only grown in the sea park Seatopia. To go there daughter had to pass through a dangerous area, even past the Black Forest, place of Lonomia to stay. Queen heard this very sad and did not let his daughter go, but because of his love for the king  eventually she went to Seatopia with two generals Animatopia, General Hipolius and General Basilica. They departed Animatopia ride the pumpkin train to the Seatopia.
On the Animatopia’s way Princess  was very sad to see the people because of the state of king. King Namurulion is wise and fair king, rules that he created is always concerned with the welfare of the people. In fact, he did not hesitate to defend the people who suffered injustice by the government. So the people feel very sad when the king was poisoned Lonomia. They prayed and  hang wreaths on their gate in every home as a sign of mourning. Daughter was carried away to see it, because people love the king so much.
After a long journey, they entered the pumpkin train in Maison forest. Maison forest is the dense forest with tall trees. Sunlight can not penetrate the thick leaves, the difference between day and night was not seen. When they came at sunset was already night. They also lit illumination of wood and oil while walking down Forest Maison. Until they came to the river bank Maison is located in the middle of the dense forest. Princess exhausted sleep on the riverbank with a leaning pine tree. General Basilica also appeared tired that he fell asleep on a rock at the edge of the river. While the general Hipolius looks vigil around them and withstand the heat of his body while his body was burned. River where the water looks dark, black and appears to have two such layers indicate a secret life in under there. Forest Maison very quiet no noise even insects in the forest. General Hipolius who are eager to soak abandon intention was because there was something that seemed odd with this river. It was getting late, is seen from the air is getting colder until it went into the bone. But for general Hipolius still feel his body heat soak because hippos need to lower the body temperature. He felt great since felt the cold water.
Suddenly there was a voice from the bushes across the river. He was very surprised because the forest was so quiet, and the slightest sound will be heard. Water began to move, and a huge wave suddenly appeared from the water ,general Hipolius want to drag into the whirlpool. General Hipolius fear screaming for help to Princess Camelion and General Basilica. When they heard moans for help from the general Hipolius, they wake up and immediately help general Hipolius who dragged a large wave. Camelion daughter take tendrils at the riverside and throw it to the General Hipolius. They both pull together General Hipolius to the mainland.
"What happened and why all of a sudden there was a big wave at the calm water, general?" Asked the Princess Camelion to the General Hipolius.
"This river has a secret. I wonder what is in it, but I'm sure there are creatures that live here. The evil creatures. "Answered Hipolius.
Big black creature resembling a giant lizard appeared in front of them. Red-eyes creature with long antennae and a forked tongue. His nose sniffing smells, they do not know what he smelled. But this is not good, they immediately boarded the train and went quickly pumpkin carriage pumpkin spur left the River Forest Maison and mysterious. Dark creatures that continue to follow their noses sniffing like a dog. They throw most of the supplies to distract the creature. And they succeeded, the creature didn’t chasing them again.

White smoke billowing from the small chimney on the side of the house, and there was a bright light in his house. This is the only building that they found in the forest. General Basilica got off the train and knocked on the door of the house. An old man owl out of the door and greet.
"Sir, let us stay overnight here, we were terrified creature chased the river." Generals pleaded to the old man's Basilica.
'' Come and wash you, after that bedraggled your body with the coffee grounds. I do not want to get into the Bunyip my house and take my soul. "replied the old man.
'' All right, sir. Thank you for your kindness.”
After their baths, and they told me their goal here. The old man also claimed that he scientist from Animatopia was kidnapped Lonomia to make poison and magic potion for him. But, knowing the purpose of Lonomia evil, then he fled from the Black Forest and forest fringe Maison stay. He did not want to go back to Animatopia because Lonomia will continue to seek and kidnapped scientists to work for him. While in the forest inhabited by dark creatures' Bunyip and old man was not afraid at all because his house is made of wood and covered with mushrooms and spices. Bunyip hate the smell of spices, coffee powder and spores. All water creatures hate with coffee grounds. In this house he has placed creates a lot of potions and magic powder, it also creates even Lonomia deadly poison.
"You are Lonomia poison maker, so you know what's the antidote? Give the antidote to me, my father was dying of yours poison! Princess was very upset to hear.
'' I'm sorry, your highness. Bidder was only held by the king Sharkpid in the land Seatopia. Dulce Fruit is only able to grow in sea water. Go there and ask the king Sharkpid, show him this badge and you will be able to get it. "The old man said in a low voice.
While general Basilica and General Hipolius asleep from exhaustion, Old man and daughter Camelion storytelling. The old man told him that the daughter has the ability to fly like a bird. When Princess Camelion  was born she had a gem of a country Birdtopia. Daughter born in month and day wolf. On that day all babies that born will died. King Namurulion very sad and asks ‘jewel of life’ in the City of Stone Mountain Birdtopia to make daughter alive. The stone is a sacred stone Birdtopia that give strength to the birds in the country Birdtopia.
The old man stood up and walked to the closet potion. He took the crate and then put some magic potion. And take the cloak worn from the other cabinets.
"I can’t give you the antidote, but I can make you be protected from witchcraft and poison Lonomia. This robe is a robe disappeare, you could disappear and not be seen by anyone with this robe. The badge is a key of sea park, and only Lonomia, oldman and Sharkpid who got the badge. After getting the fruit Princess Camelion like to thank the King Sharkpid. They went from Seatopia back to Animatopia.

But, it turns out they forgot pathway previously notified Oldman. They pass through the Black Forest. The deeper the more in carrying them into the black forest and suddenly they were ambushed troops of red-eyed wolf. The train they were on was stopped by troops. The troops are Lonomia forces. General Hipolius Basilica and generals fought bravely against the forces of the wolf. Lonomia emerged from behind the trees and approached the Camelion, camelion immediately using the cloak disappears, take a bottle of water in the crate herb onion. He quiet out of the train and hide in order not to be found Lonomia. But, Lonomia was clever, he was ordered wolf to smell his scent. The wolf was getting closer and closer to the princess. Finally Princess caught him running toward the valley pursued Lonomia and a wolf. Daughter can’t go anywhere and eventually fell into a ravine. Lonomia regret can’t kill Camelion with his hand self, but he was also very happy because camelion dead so no saving Namurulion, and he can have his throne.
Camelion oldman remember the words that he could have the ability as a bird. He flew and surprisingly Lonomia. Then Camelion pour the liquid into the body Lonomia onions and took the sword from the wolf. Camelion will momentarily cut tentacle Lonomia, Lonomia gave up and asked Camelion to order release. Daughter was let go and move on back to Animatopia. Arriving at animatopia they are very excited to bring fruit Dulce. However, the palace turned into sadness. King has died, they turned out too long to bring the fruit to the king Dulce. Camelion regret very deep but if he felt the country participated fragile too. Finally, he led his country replaces King Namurulion. To be the queen of the whole Camelion must have a husband. And unexpected people that come to marry the daughter is Lonomia. Lonomia apologize to Camelion for his wrongness. Instead, she wanted to accompany Camelion to lead Animatopia peace.
